After being at assessment for inducing on March 22:nd and my cervix was too immature I was sent home and needed to come back again on March 24 (the due date) when I was considered full term. Once there again I had the strong feeling that I was going to get the same answer as the last time and be called back after the weekend I broke down as I felt I couldn't take going back and forth until they considered my cervix mature enough for inducing. The doctor making the judgement came and saw me and asked what was wrong and when I told him he said that it IS happening today. I guess they just needed to see what kind of inducing they needed to use.
After the check I was moved to the delivery ward where they breached the caul at 10.45 am, about an hour later they gave me oxytocindr (IV to stimulate my labour pains as my own isn't really starting).
They get me to sit on a pilates ball and stand with the help of a standing table (don't know what they're called in english) to help the baby move downwards and the labour pains to start more.
Around 4 pm the pains are starting to be too much for me so I ask what kinds of pain reducer they can give me. Epidural is one of the first she mention. A bit reluctant of that as I remember that it slowed down the labour when I had it with Ayla, I don't want to prolong the labour but at the same time I feel I can't take these regular intense pains so I choose it anyway. At 4.50 pm the anaesthetic doctor comes and gives me the epidural. The pain gets more manageable for a while but it doesn't take long before they start to hurt again, but this time with more pressure downwards and it feels like they're pushing the baby out. I tell the midwife and she checks but there's still a little way to go and there's still and edge left. I tell her that I've had that edge with both the others too and it doesn't seem to want to go away. The midwife checks if she can push it away, so at the same time as I push she holds that edge down. Two pushes and then I have to hold back for the next and just let the body do the work, one last push and the baby is out! 6.02 pm and the pushing took 7 minutes in total.
So on March 24, the due date according to both my last period and the rutiner ultrasound our third child, our second daughter Alicia Lynne Saga is born!
